MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN CREOTECH AND SATLANTIS ON NEXT-GEN EUROPEAN EARTH OBSERVATION SATELLITES

[Press Release] Madrid, Bilbao, 29 October 2025                                                                                                                                              251029 NDP CREOTECH-SATLANTIS MOU (ES)

SATLANTIS and CREOTECH Instruments signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen the collaboration in Earth Observation (EO) and advance Europe’s role in next-generation satellite technologies.

SATLANTIS, in consortium with CREOTECH, is to manufacture five very high-resolution Earth Observation satellites, taking firm steps toward Northern Europe and consolidating itself as the preferred choice for visible and thermal optical space observation solutions of very high resolution.

The signing ceremony took place during the Euskadi–Poland Economic Forum 2025 in Bilbao, organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Madrid and the Basque Government in collaboration with the Ministry of Development and Technology, the Polish Investment and Trade Agency (PAIH), and Basque Trade & Investment. The event was attended by the Polish Minister of Finance and Economy, Andrzej Domański, the CEO of Creotech Instruments, Grzegorz Brona, and the CEO of SATLANTIS, Juan Tomás Hernani, as well as the Lehendakari, Imanol Pradales, and the Basque Government’s Minister of Industry, Energy Transition, and Sustainability, Mikel Jauregi.

This MoU is based on a joint manufacturing effort of very high-resolution Earth Observation satellites for the Polish government and aims to expand toward new capabilities through a SATLANTIS subsidiary in Poland.

By combining SATLANTIS’s expertise in very high-resolution optical systems for the space sector- ranging from visible to thermal spectrum – with Creotech’s specialization in satellite platform design and manufacturing, both companies are driving technological cooperation that strengthens Europe’s autonomy and resilience in space.

The current timing, with the new European Commission defining its programs, aligns with Spain’s plans—announced by the Minister of Science, Innovation, and Universities, Diana Morant– to expand the Atlantic Constellation, in which SATLANTIS supplies cameras for eight microsatellites.

Meanwhile, the European Space Agency (ESA) is promoting, for its ministerial summit in Bremen in November, bi- and tri-national cooperation within its new ERS-EO (European Resilience for Space) satellite program, in which SATLANTIS expects to contribute its strong capabilities in thermal vision and high-resolution imaging.

This agreement represents a step forward toward a stronger and more competitive Europe in the space sector,” said Juan Tomás Hernani, CEO of SATLANTIS, “the collaboration with Creotech will allow us to advance in innovative solutions that deliver technological sovereignty and have a direct impact on global challenges such as thermal vision.

For his part, Grzegorz Brona, CEO of Creotech Instruments, stated that “Cooperation with Satlantis marks a key step toward developing a new generation of European Earth observation satellites. By combining our experience in designing and building satellite platforms with Satlantis’ advanced imaging technologies, we will be able to design innovative systems that deliver exceptional imaging resolution, including in the infrared spectrum. This partnership will also strengthen Polish-Spanish collaboration in the space sector, contributing to the development of a stronger European technological capability. Our goal is not only to carry out joint projects within ESA and EU programmes, but also to develop innovative solutions that may serve as the foundation for future observation and exploration missions in Europe.

Juan Carlos Cortés, Director of the Spanish Space Agency (AEE), stated: “We are on the right track when SATLANTIS’s Spanish camera technology, selected for our Atlantic Constellation, is gaining European and international reach, supporting projects in Poland, Sweden, Portugal, and Vietnam.”

Further updates on new opportunities arising from this collaboration will follow.
