Our Company

SATLANTIS is a Space Technology Company specialized in Earth Observation & Universe Exploration; unique in the market for its specific characteristics of agility, spectral capture and VHR resolution image quality.

To answer end-users’ increasing demand of precise geo-requirements such as following irregular geometry on Earth, the Company provides reliable and innovative integrated satellite solutions built around its customizable High and Very High-Resolution optical payloads.

With strategic partners, SATLANTIS provides End-to-End solutions, by controlling its own optical channels embarked in agile small sensor buses, operated in intelligent missions that generate unique customer proprietary data.

Our History

2013

SATLANTIS was originally founded in the US in November 2013 as a spin-off of the University of Florida (UF).

2014

One year later, in November 2014, SATLANTIS relocated its headquarters to the Bilbao area (in Spain) to consolidate the development of optical payloads in the European market.

PRESENT

The Company’s headquarters are in Bilbao, Spain, within the Science Park of the University of the Basque Country, and SATLANTIS US is based within the Innovation Hub, at the University of Florida, Gainesville.

 

SATLANTIS Group includes SuperSharp in UK and SATLANTIS France office in Bidart.

To democratize satellite imagery by developing high-resolution Full Solutions for SmallSats at a fraction of today’s mass, size, and cost, through a set of Earth & Universe Observation technologies.

SATLANTIS is founded in USA.
2014
SATLANTIS establishes its headquarters in Spain.
2015
The first iSIM technology is validated at the Kennedy Space Center.
2016
SATLANTIS closes its first investment round of 2.35 M€.
2017
The company is awarded an SME Instrument Phase 2 grant from the H2020 Programme of the European Commission.
2018
SATLANTIS moves to its new headquarters with laboratories & clean rooms.
2019
SATLANTIS and JAXA sign a contract for the In Orbit Demonstration of iSIM at the ISS.
2021
iSIM-90 flight to the ISS with CASPR Mission for NASA/DoD.
2022
SATLANTIS closes an investment boosting its growth in the USA and bringing its latest round of financing to 31M€.
2022
Launch of the satellite Urdaneta-ARMSAT1, first full-solution for Earth Observation.
2023
SATLANTIS and SuperSharp Space Systems (UK) enter into a strategic alliance.
2023
Launch of iSIM-90 VNIR within ESA’s MANTIS Mission.
2023
Launch of GEISAT Precursor satellite, full solution dedicated to CH4/GHG & Environment.
2024
Launch of HORACIO satellite, 16U CubeSat + iSIM-90 VNIR-SWIR, multipurpose full-solution for Earth Observation.

Our Facilities

SATLANTIS HEADQUARTERS include several recently renewed office areas, laboratories and rooms.

More than 325 m2 are dedicated to laboratories for the development, production and integration of our payloads. More than 120 m2 are inside certified clean rooms. Several ISO5, ISO6 and ISO7 rooms are available for the assembly, alignment, integration, verification and quality control
of the payloads.

The laboratories are equipped with the necessary tools and instruments for the development of the electronics, mechanics, and optics of the payloads.

 

The Control Room

The satellite control room has 2 places for our operators, and it is directly connected to the ground stations in North Pole, Puerto Llano, Hartebeest Hoek, and antennas on the roof.

From here the mission planning and the day-to-day activities of the satellites are coordinated.
